Charlotte has really become, or at least really attempting to become more mobile. She’s not quite ready to get herself on both hands and knees, but she’s taken to rolling and scooting to far off reaches of our house. It should be noted that our house is NOT baby proofed. Most importantly, we don’t have any gates at the top and bottom of our stairs (which is probably the only baby proofing we do) so we’re in no hurry for her to start crawling.
I was laying with her on the floor when she started rolling herself towards the dining table. This was all uncharted territory for her as she’s never eaten a meal in our dining room EVER. Which really is sad. Coming from such a small house (1,100 sq ft) to a large house (3,800 sq ft) it really bothers me to know we have unused space in our house.
Because its unused it’s also pretty neglected. I hate it. I’m starting to hate my vintage Danish modern dining table, buffet, and china cabinet that I once loved with all my heart. The chairs have the original fabric and foam, which really means they look like shit and are very uncomfortable. One chair is actually broken. God help the fool who sits on it. (I know sprucing them up has to be such a simple DIY project. Just have to find the time to do it.)
So here’s Charlotte rolling towards the table, in my blah white dining room with “builder standard” chandelier. I have a grandfather clock that doesn’t work. I love that it came from my grandparents house, but it’s so very out of place. My wishlist for my dining room is this:
* recover the chairs
* light fixture
* accessories (hang some stuff up)
All that being said, I thought it would be interesting to document her journey.
